LEPIDOPTEROLOGY ADDICT

Lepidopterology addict is a continuing body of work by Jacqueline de Montaigne that was started in March 2021, and focuses on moths, with the 'occasional butterfly'. Moths are often overlooked, undervalued and misunderstood with the viewer often mistaking an actual moth with a butterfly, always presuming they are nothing more than a small brown creature known for eating socks. In the artist's nature and figurative work they are a metaphorical celebration of the underdog, a clear reminder that we always presume and label what we see without looking at it's true beauty, a theme consistently explored across the artists work!

This collection comprises of small, detailed and vibrant watercolour paintings encompassed in fine silver leaf and various tones of 24ct gold.

This series was originally developed and launched in collaboration with Laura Lea Design Gallery in London in the UK.
